Real Madrid are considering a move for Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi, with plans to offer Dani Ceballos in exchange to make the deal more affordable, reports Fichajes.
This comes as part of Madrid’s ongoing search to strengthen their midfield. Zubimendi, one of the brightest talents in Spanish football, is known for his impressive ball recovery skills and his ability to distribute the ball effectively.
The player has a release clause of €60 million, but Real Madrid are keen to reduce this fee through a player swap, with Ceballos being a central part of their proposal.
Ceballos, who recently extended his contract with Real Madrid until 2027, has struggled to secure regular playing time this season.
His reduced role could lead him to explore new opportunities, and Real Sociedad could be an ideal place for him to rediscover his form. At Sociedad, he would likely receive more playing time, which could help him reignite his career.

The positive relationship between Real Madrid and Real Sociedad could make the negotiations smoother. However, the deal hinges on Ceballos’ willingness to move away from Madrid. If his lack of playing time continues, a move next summer might become more likely.
Madrid’s interest in Zubimendi is not new, but it has intensified recently, especially after former Real Madrid player Xabi Alonso, a potential candidate to replace Carlo Ancelotti as coach, spoke highly of Zubimendi.
The Spanish midfielder’s preferred position also happens to be similar to that of Eduardo Camavinga, which could offer Madrid greater tactical flexibility.
Although other top clubs are also targeting Zubimendi, Real Madrid have a unique appeal, with the opportunity to play for such a prestigious club being a dream for many players.
The proposed swap deal could pave the way for an agreement that benefits both clubs, with Zubimendi potentially heading to the Bernabeu and Ceballos moving to San Sebastian.
