La Liga giants Real Madrid have been dealt an altogether considerable blow on the personnel front, ahead of the upcoming Champions League final.

This comes amid confirmation that star midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni will not be available for selection.

France international Tchouaméni, of course, picked up an untimely injury last week.

As much came after the 24-year-old was forced into a premature departure from Real Madrid’s Champions League semi-final 2nd-leg showdown with Bayern Munich.

Ensuing medical tests revealed a stress fracture in Tchouaméni’s foot, throwing his status for next month’s tournament finale firmly up in the air.

Contrasting reports had since done the rounds regarding his progress, with some having assured that the former Monaco man was making great strides, whilst others pointed towards his presence against Borussia Dortmund as having been all but ruled out.

And, unfortunately for club and player alike, it is the latter which has today been confirmed.

As per a report from Madrid-based outlet Marca:

‘Aurélien Tchouaméni will not arrive in time to play in the Champions League final.’

Though the Frenchman is doing everything in his power to recover fitness as quickly as possible, June 1st’s showcase will simply come too soon.

Tchouaméni’s focus has therefore already shifted towards ensuring his availability for France’s opening fixture at Euro 2024.
