The powers that be at La Liga giants Real Madrid are considering dipping into the market for right-back reinforcements this winter.
That’s according to Marca, who have on Friday provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Spain’s capital.
The widespread consensus across the Spanish media is that, after previously ruling as much out, Real Madrid are now ready to move for defensive additions in January.
With Dani Carvajal sidelined long-term, and Lucas Vázquez looking suspect at best in his efforts to fill in, right-back has been identified as one area in urgent need of fresh bodies.
Los Blancos’ no.1 target for the position remains Liverpool standout Trent Alexander-Arnold.
With any move for the Englishman only being considered next summer, when Alexander-Arnold is primed to become a free agent, though, alternative options are being sought for the 2nd-half of the term.
And, as per a report from Marca, amid as much, two names have quickly emerged above all others:
‘Pedro Porro, from Tottenham Hotspur, and Jeremie Frimpong, from Bayer Leverkusen, are on the list of possible signings. These additions would not affect a possible arrival of Trent Alexander-Arnold in the summer.’
