Raul Asencio has been one of the biggest positives of the season so far at Real Madrid. With Carlo Ancelotti & co. hit hard with injuries in the defensive unit, they have been forced to turn to the academy and Asencio has shone through.

Just 21 years old, the La Fabrica product has been a revelation so far, displaying maturity and performance level far beyond his age and slowly but surely establishing himself as a first-team member at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Asencio will sign a five-year deal in the summer

Given his breakout performances this season, Real Madrid intend to reward Raul Asencio with a new contract, with his current one expiring in 2026.

As such, MARCA reports that the 21-year-old Spaniard will sign a new five-year deal with the Merengues at the end of the season.

At the moment, Real Madrid remain calm and composed regarding Asencio. The time to renew and adjust his contract to reflect his performance will come once the season is over.

There are no issues, for two key reasons. The first relates to the commitment of the player, and the second concerns the way Valdebebas operates to ensure the continuity of players who are seen as having the potential to one day be part of the first team.

They will sit down, discuss, and and with the academy player’s performances as the main argument, the agreement will be concluded smoothly, as assured by sources within the club.

A system in place

As per the report, Real Madrid have a system in place to secure the future of talents from the academy who break into the senior setup.

It applies to those who are seen as important players, and it means that when they earn a place in the first team, their contract is extended by five more years under different conditions, with their place secured and a release clause – in this case, set at €50 million.

Sporadic appearances are not sufficient; the player must have a guaranteed spot in the squad, meaning they must be considered one of the team’s core members.

Asencio signed this formula when, having turned 18, he committed to a contract with Real Madrid lasting until June 30, 2026.

What Asencio has shown has not come as a surprise to those in charge of the academy, who were already clear on the level the Canary Islander could reach. As such, his future at the club is already secured.
