The subject of the situation between the posts has of course dominated the headlines in Spain’s capital for several weeks now.

As much comes with the returning Thibaut Courtois having posed something of a dilemma to his manager.

With it having previously been considered a foregone conclusion that Andriy Lunin’s fine form would see the Ukrainian continue between the posts for the Champions League showcase on June 1st, Courtois’ stellar return has since thrown as much into doubt.

Despite a setback in his recovery from an ACL injury earlier this year, Belgian international Courtois has looked nothing short of spectacular since stepping foot back on the pitch.

Afforded a trio of successive La Liga starts, the former Chelsea man has racked up three clean sheets, with his 10 (yes, TEN) saves against Alavés on Tuesday having only confirmed what Ancelotti and his coaching staff have been preaching for some time now – that Courtois is back to his best.

And as much, it has today been revealed, looks set to be enough to earn a starting berth against Borussia Dortmund.

As per the aforementioned José Luis Sánchez, Carlo Ancelotti’s goalkeeper plans for Real Madrid’s final three fixtures of the season are as follows:

Andriy Lunin will start this coming Sunday, against Villarreal. Courtois will then return to face Real Betis on May 25th.

And the latter will then maintain his no.1 status for the Champions League final at Wembley Stadium on the 1st of June.
