Marc Casado is one of the players who has generated the most interest at FC Barcelona this summer.

That interest stems both from his exceptional breakthrough last season and from the difficult circumstances he faces this campaign, in which he could be left with very few minutes in the team.

After all, Casado is currently behind Frenkie de Jong, Pedri, and Gavi in the pecking order and did not get any minutes against Mallorca. Marc Bernal’s imminent return will complicate matters further.

Real Betis ask Barcelona about Casado

As such, SPORT reports that Real Betis have approached Barcelona to enquire about the situation of Marc Casado.

Los Verdiblancos are searching for a defensive midfielder with the Barcelona star’s profile following the departure of Johnny Cardoso to Atletico Madrid.

In recent seasons, Real Betis and Barcelona have worked together on several operations that benefitted both clubs – from Emerson Royal to Chadi Riad, Alex Collado, Ez Abde, and Vitor Roque.

This summer, the two clubs have again been in contact, exploring various options, including a move for Casado. But the deal is practically impossible despite the good relationship between the two clubs.

Casado has neither wanted to leave, nor does he intend to, and Barcelona would not consider selling him for less than €30 million – a figure far beyond what Betis could pay.

The Andalusian club can only acquire a percentage of a player’s rights – an arrangement the Blaugrana do not contemplate, even though a late exit would help them balance the numbers and return to the 1:1 Fair Play rule.

Casado determined to stay

Casado has always been firmly against leaving Barcelona, a stance he and his camp have communicated to the club.

This was the case even earlier in the summer when interest arrived from a Premier League side and Atletico Madrid. He is determined to fight for minutes and compete for a starting role, despite knowing how difficult that will be.

As such, Casado is expected to stay at Barcelona unless there is a surprise, though the situation could change in January if he continues to struggle for game time.
