Real Betis president Ángel Haro has this week provided a fresh insight into the club’s ongoing efforts to bring Antony back from Manchester United.
Wide-man Antony of course spent the 2nd half of the 2024/25 campaign plying his trade in La Liga.
After another disappointing half-season on the books of the aforementioned Man United, the former Ajax man was granted a loan exit, linking up with Manuel Pellegrini’s Real Betis.
And Antony went on to enjoy a new lease of life in Seville.
After quickly establishing himself as a starter in Betis’ XI, the 25-year-old racked up nine goals and five assists in 26 appearances across all competitions.
Upon his loan terms coming to a close last month, though, Antony was forced to depart the Estadio Benito Villamarín, returning to parent club Man United.
Speaking to the media this week, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of the Brazilian’s potential return was put to the aforementioned Ángel Haro once more.
And in his response, provided to Cope Sevilla and relaid by Mundo Deportivo, Real Betis’ president explained:
“We’re working on that path. It won’t be easy. They paid a lot for him. He has two years left. We’re talking to him. He’ll have to lower his salary to come, because we have our financial rigor. We can’t go crazy. We’re working on that path. He loves Betis, but he also looks out for his own interests.”
