Real Betis & Atlético Madrid locked in talks over winger deal | OneFootball

The respective boards at La Liga rivals Real Betis and Atlético Madrid have kickstarted talks over a potential summer deal on the transfer front.

That’s according to Spanish football insider Matteo Moretto, who points towards Rodrigo Riquelme as the subject of these discussions.

Winger/attacking midfielder Riquelme is for his part fresh off playing something of a bit-part role for Atlético Madrid this past season.

All told, across all competitions, the 25-year-old racked up 26 appearances.

Just eight of these outings, though, came in the form of starts, giving rise to speculation that Riquelme could be on the move before the summer is out.

And as alluded to above, if the latest word stemming from the press on Wednesday is anything to go by, then one of the attacker’s many suitors now appear to have positioned themselves at the front of the queue for his services.

As per a report from journalist Matteo Moretto:

‘Real Betis are going for Rodrigo Riquelme. The two clubs are negotiating for an amount between 8-12 million euros + a percentage of a future sale. In addition to Roro, there are also other wingers on the green-and-white club’s list, but the Atlético player is gaining a lot of ground.’
