Rasmus Hojlund delivers savage response to Kyle Walker after Manchester derby | OneFootball

Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund delivered a brutal blow to Manchester City defender Kyle Walker in the aftermath of Sunday's highly-strung derby clash.

United secured an unexpected win by scoring two late goals, piling even more misery on a City side that has now lost eight of the last 11 games across all competitions.

During the first half, Hojlund and Walker clashed as tensions threatened to boil over. The players locked horns during a flashpoint, pushing their heads together, but Walker then inexplicably tumbled to the floor to make it look as though he had been headbutted.

With VAR checking the incident, it was clear that Hojlund had not and both players were yellow carded. Some United fans on social media even questioned why Walker wasn't shown two yellows and therefore sent off, one for the act of aggression that he was actually cautioned for and another for the act of simulation trying to get an opponent sent off.

Although City took the lead and looked like they would claim victory with only a few minutes remaining, Hojlund had the last laugh when comical defending gifted Bruno Fernandes the chance to score an equalising penalty and then Amad Diallo netted to win it.

The Dane took to Instagram after the game, posting one image of United's celebrations and another of the confrontation with Walker. His choice of caption buried the City right-back.

"Manchester is red, Violets are blue, What a brilliant performance, but the Oscar goes to..." he said, poking fun at his opponent's apparent acting skills.

Hojlund wasn't on the scoresheet and only had 14 touches (per FotMob) at the Etihad Stadium, but the 21-year-old is staking his claim to be Ruben Amorim's regular starting striker after netting five times in the four games prior to the derby.
