Rashford wages and buy option revealed for Barcelona loan | OneFootball

Marcus Rashford is closing in on a loan move to Barcelona from Manchester United.

Barcelona have reached an agreement to sign Rashford on loan for the campaign, after the forward was informed there was no route back into Ruben Amorim’s plans at Old Trafford.

Rashford spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa, where he scored four times and provided six assists in 17 appearances.

Villa opted against turning the 27-year-old’s loan into a permanent move and Barcelona have now capitalised.

Fabrizio Romano has reported that Barcelona will cover Rashford’s full salary during his time in Spain, though the England international has agreed to a 15% pay cut. Manchester United will not cover the difference.

The loan will also include a buy option for €30m (£26m) next summer. Rashford’s loan move to Aston Villa had included a £40m purchase option.

Barcelona have moved for Rashford to add depth to the club’s forward line. The Catalans had pursued a deal for Nico Williams, only for the Spain winger to turn down a transfer to sign a new contract at Athletic Club.

Rashford will become the first Englishman to play for Barcelona since Gary Lineker (1986-1989).
