An initially sluggish game from FC Barcelona turned into a brilliant performance near the end of the game. Ultimately, the substitutions made by Hansi Flick changed the game. With a massive comeback, Barcelona managed to get all three points against Celta Vigo at the Montjuic Stadium.
A 4-3 thriller, it saw Raphinha grab two goals, with both Ferran Torres and Dani Olmo scoring as well. Despite having a slow start to the game, Barcelona grew into the match and ultimately to complete a memorable comeback in a crucial game.
Here are the player ratings for the Barcelona players.
Player Ratings:
Wojciech Szczesny: 6.5
A major blunder from the Polish goalkeeper saw him leave the net entirely open for Celta Vigo to get a goal. However, he redeemed himself shortly after with a great save to stop the opponents.
Jules Kounde: 5.0
Way too sluggish, and gave too much respect to his opponents when they had possession. A frustrating display from the French right-back.
Pau Cubarsi: 6.0
Looked uncharacteristically uncomfortable at times today, especially due to Celta Vigo’s early crosses. Solid in possession, but definitely not one of his better games.
Inigo Martinez: 5.5
A poor performance from Inigo Martinez, who has one crucial interception when he was the last man infront of Szczesny’s goal. His passes went astray quite often, and his positioning for the offside trap left a lot to be desired.
Gerard Martin: 5.0
The Spanish left-back was frustrating today, and he was unable to do most things effectively. His defensive ability was exposed at times, and he was way too predictable going forward as well.
Frenkie de Jong: 7.5
Had to defend a lot more today and could not focus on the technical side of his game a lot. However, it ultimately paid off as he helped keep the team afloat and enable others around him to perform better as the match went on.
Pedri: 8.0
The Spanish midfielder was still the orchestrator of this Barcelona team in this game. He was smart and creative, but he definitely struggled a little more than usual in this game due to the frustrating movements of his teammates. In the second half, however, he completely helped in transforming the team.
Raphinha: 9.5
Despite looking a bit ineffective at the start of the game, Raphinha grew into the match and completely turned the result around. With a great assist and two massively crucial goals, the Brazilian forward was simply a wrecking machine when Barcelona needed him the most.
Fermin Lopez: 5.5
Not effective yet again, and it was clear to see that Fermin Lopez was once again not at his best. An unfortunate game for him, especially with the players who replaced him having a far better performance and impact.
Ferran Torres: 7.0
Scored a goal out of nowhere at the start of the game, and kept making some decent runs. Unfortunately, the team gave away some less than ideal goals following his strike.
Robert Lewandowski: 5.5
Contained well by Celta Vigo, he was completely ineffective in this game. Was taken off in the second off with some discomfort, and it brought an end to a frustrating performance.
Substitutes:
Lamine Yamal: 8.0
For Barcelona, Lamine Yamal was sorelyneeded in this game. Thankfully, he was brought on in the second half and managed to get a big assist and constantly created headaches for Celta Vigo.
Dani Olmo: 8.5
A fox in the box and a great problem for Celta Vigo, Dani Olmo made life immensely more difficult for the opposition. Grabbed a goal, but then also won a massive late penalty that Raphinha converted to win the game.
Gavi: 7.0
Energetic and intense, Gavi was everything that Barcelona was missing in this game. Bringing him on was the right call and it was done at the right moment.
Pau Victor: N/A
Not enough time or impact on the game to warrant a rating.
Eric Garcia: N/A
Not enough time or impact on the game to warrant a rating.
