Claudio Ranieri was asked how he managed to elicit the needed reaction in a team that everyone had given up on earlier in the season.
Having managed to maintain ten consecutive positive results in the last Serie A games, Ranieri spoke to DAZN in the aftermath of Roma’s 4-0 win over Monza.
“I asked the team to approach this match with immediate strength and dedication,” he said.
“The boys understood that the moment was too important,” he added.
“As I always tell everyone after a win, let’s take care of our minds and think about the next match, which I repeat will be difficult.”
“My secret? I don’t know. I always try to find the right feeling with the team. If I find that I know that the team will give me more than what they have at that moment. It’s a question of sensitivity and respect.”
“The lads understand that I try to do the best for them. This team suffered a lot at the beginning, they changed three coaches and people contested them and it wasn’t possible because they are very good players and they are proving it.”
“The thing I’m happiest about is that these guys are winning back the fans, who come to the stadium with the awareness of seeing a team that fights.”
“The result is always secondary. What I ask of the guys is the performance, which is a question of the will of the individual, and they have to put this to the benefit of the team.”
