If a recent report from The Daily Record is believed to be true, Rangers are eyeing a season-long loan move for Mikey Moore. While they are hopeful of snapping up the highly-rated Tottenham Hotspur teenager, there’s still work to do, as revealed by Record Sport.

Despite roping in Djeidi Gassama from Sheffield Wednesday, gaffer Russell Martin and sporting director Kevin Thelwell are assessing a wide range of attacking options, having parted ways with Ianis Hagi, Tom Lawrence and Vaclav Cerny upon the conclusion of the previous campaign. Crystal Palace youngster Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, along with Go Ahead Eagles winger Oliver Antman, have been on their radar for quite some time, and the emerging Spurs prospect is the latest name linked with a summer transfer north of the border.

The 17-year-old England youth international progressed through the academy ranks of the Lilywhites before making his senior debut last year under Ange Postecoglou. At the age of 16 years and 277 days, he became the youngest Tottenham player to feature in the Premier League. So far, he has made 21 senior appearances for his boyhood club, but Thomas Frank, the newly-appointed Spurs chief, decided not to bring him to Hong Kong and South Korea as part of their pre-season tour.

“Mikey is a big talent, I’m really excited about his future here at Tottenham. I think for all players, but especially the younger players, they need to get that first-team consistent football into their bodies.”

Frank backed his decision to leave Moore back home at a press conference in Hong Kong.

What He Would Offer In Rangers’ Attack

Rangers have already made several signings across the pitch, but are expected to bring in a few more over the next few weeks. The potential exit of Cyriel Dessers and Hamza Igamane could further decimate their attack, and the teenage prodigy, therefore, might play a key part, thanks to his flexibility across the frontline.

Predominantly a left-sided attacker who prefers to cut inside and use his stronger right foot, Moore could also be deployed from the right or as a centre-forward for his flair and sharpness in front of goal. With 1 goal and 2 assists last season, he showed his promise in limited minutes, but a move to Glasgow could help him develop his skills before staking a claim in Frank’s first-team plans.

Gassama’s arrival and Findlay Curtis’ rise make the Light Blues well-equipped down the left-hand flank. Moore could occupy the right-wing role for now, but he might be utilised as a utility option if they snap up Antman and Rak-Sakyi.
