Quansah ready to take ‘next step’ as speculation grows over Liverpool future | OneFootball

Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah says he is ready to take the “next step” in his development as a footballer.

22-year-old Quansah was part of the Liverpool side that won the Premier League title under Arne Slot this season, but saw his minutes played more than half under the Dutchman, going from 1190 to 489 minutes.

The defender, who is currently in Slovakia with England Under-21’s for their European Championships, has been linked with big money moves to the likes of Newcastle and Bayer Leverkusen, suggested he is ready to push on in his career.

“It’s definitely developing,” Quansah said. “I’m not getting too high or too low with anything. I think I can take massive learnings from the three seasons I’ve had in professional football.

“From Bristol Rovers [on loan in 2023] until now, to put perspective and look back I’m in a very good position to take the next step. It comes with working hard and staying focused on what I can control. As for the future, it’ll put me in the best stead if I just keep my head down and keep working.

“I’m in a very good position to take the next step and it just comes with working hard and staying focused on what I can control.”

Quansah also went on to praise the key figures he has played with at Liverpool, who he feels has helped him develop as a leader and a player.

“Jordan [Henderson] is very vocal, has very, very high standards on and off the pitch and he drives that constantly,” he added.

“Then you’ve got Virgil [van Dijk], who again leads by example – a big presence in the changing room. Because of the type of player he is, you want to listen to him, you want to learn off him.

“I’m not going to be always the most vocal in the team. I might learn that skill but the way I’m trying to do it at the minute is how I set standards, how I train, how I keep my standards as high as I can really.”
