The R’s plan to sanction a loan exit for forward Alfie Lloyd this summer.
Queens Park Rangers are set to loan forward Alfie Lloyd out during this summer transfer window.
As per West London Sport, the plan is to allow the 22-year-old to join a League One club, with several third-tier sides believed to be registering an interest.
The R’s are still aiming to find the right balance in their squad under new boss Julien Stephan.
QPR have currently recruited four new faces, with Karamoko Dembele, Amadou Salif Mbengue, Kwame Poku and Kealey Adamson all linking up in West London, while as many as 11 first-team figures departed the club at the end of last season.
Now another exit could be on the cards, as Lloyd seeks regular game time in order to have a future breakthrough campaign at Loftus Road.
According to a report by West London Sport, QPR forward Alfie Lloyd is set to leave the club on loan this summer.
It is believed that the 22-year-old is set to drop a division to play in League One, with several third-tier sides showing interest in securing his services.
Signing from Yeovil four years ago, Lloyd made 31 appearances for the R’s in all competitions last term – mainly from the substitutes' bench.
With first-team game-time appearing unlikely ahead of the upcoming campaign, QPR are reportedly willing to let him depart on loan and thrive in an environment where he can gain regular minutes.
The R’s currently have five striking options at the club, and the West London outfit are keen on cutting that down.
The club are also considering offers for Charlie Kelman after his stellar season at Leyton Orient, with Luton Town reportedly making a bid for the American international.
It’s been a massive step-up in class for Alfie Lloyd jumping from the National League to the Championship, so he does need a season towards the lower ends of the EFL pyramid to showcase that he is good enough to thrive in the second tier in future seasons.
There’s no doubt the talent is there, but with such an array of forward options, QPR have the luxury of loaning him out and seeing if the potential is there.
From Lloyd’s perspective, it’s an opportunity that he should be looking to grasp with both hands.
It’s a fantastic chance to play regularly in a division filled with quality, getting used to the demands of a relentless 46-game season, as well as seeing what areas he can improve on in his game that can turn him into a top-class forward.
It certainly seems a move that suits both parties in the short-term, and it will be intriguing to see which League One side will win the battle for his signature by the 1st September deadline.
