Ross McCormack has said that he can’t see Andy Robertson signing for Celtic despite the player’s desire to pull on the Hoops. Robertson has been very open about his support of Celtic throughout the years as well as his ambition to turn out for his boyhood club.
Although, speaking to Clyde Superscoreboard, McCormack believes that the re-signing of Kieran Tierney may scupper any chances of seeing the Scotland captain in a Celtic shirt.
“What age is Andy now? 31. So, if he did see out the final year he will be 32. Personally, I can’t see it.
“But if you remember, for the last couple of weeks I have been saying that Kieran Tierney could play left centre half for Celtic, if they were going to keep Greg Taylor.

“Although Andy, obviously, would love to come back and play for Celtic, I just can’t see that happening, to be honest. I am going to say not at all. I think Kieran Tierney is going to stay there for years and years.
“I risk contradicting myself when I say this, but I think Kieran Tierney’s best position is left-back. But I think, if needs must, a game here and there. He can go into centre-back and play there. I don’t think Kieran would want to do that for a full season.
“That’s why I don’t think someone of the calibre of Andy Robertson will be brought to the club.”
Robertson is a target for Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid but the La Liga side are looking to secure the player on a free transfer or for around £5m.
Robertson, who grew up in the South Side of Glasgow, was in Celtic’s Academy before being released. Queen’s Park capitalised on the left back and he played through the leagues, eventually moving to Dundee United. Under Jackie Mac, Robertson developed and Hull City came calling.
Robbo has made 342 appearances for Liverpool, scoring 11 goals and assisting on 67 occasions. The marauding fullback has won the Premier League twice, the UEFA Champions League along with both the League and FA Cup. It’s fair to say that the player is an Anfield Legend. Robertson was one of Jurgen Klopp’s most trusted lieutenants but it appears that Slot has his own ideas for the team and moving Robertson on might be an option.
Celtic will be in the market for a new left back if Taylor departs as expected but you wouldn’t imagine that KT or Robertson would want to job share. It is something that could likely be explored in a couple of years but only if it works for both parties, rather than just fulfilling the player’s wishes.
