Former Premier League footballer Leon Osman has revealed what impressed him most about Jadon Sancho after his impressive debut against Bournemouth.

Sancho arrived at Chelsea on deadline day from Manchester United on an initial loan deal which will become permanent for around £25m as long as the Blues don’t finish in the bottom six of the Premier League this season.

The 24-year-old had to wait until after the international break to make his debut, but for Chelsea and their supporters it was well worth the wait.

Osman reveals what impressed him most about Sancho

After a poor first half performance against the Cherries Maresca sent Sancho on at half time for his debut as he replaced Pedro Neto.

Sancho made an instant impact and certainly gave the Blues a lift in the second half with his directness, his passing ability and he linked up well with Marc Cucurella down the left hand side.

The winger capped off his impressive performance by setting up Christopher Nkunku for the winner in the 86th minute, whilst the Chelsea fans showed their appreciation to the club’s latest signing as they loudly chanted Sancho’s name at full time as he came over to applaud the fans.

Osman was impressed with what he saw on the pitch from Sancho, but he was actually more impressed with how he conducted himself when interviewed after the game.

“His interview after the game was really good as well, he was thanking the staff, he was thanking his teammates because he seems to already feel very settled,” he told the Premier League’s website.

“I have not seen him talk like that in the last couple of seasons about how happy he is and thankful that they made him feel so comfortable and a player of that quality that feels comfortable will give you this kind of performance and he looks like he might have found his home.

“He might have found the place where he’s meant to be playing football because this is the Jadon Sancho that we all know he’s capable of being the one that lit up his time in Dortmund the first time certainly.

“I am not saying we have seen it enough since, but he sparkled at times, he drew defenders in, he showed quality, he wanted the ball, he was hungry and it created a number of chances in the game, and if you have got a player like that who can do this, he’s a real bright spark for your club.”

Sancho could be in line to make his first start for the Blues as they take on West Ham in the early kick off on Saturday.
