Despite losing to Aston Villa on the night, the Ligue 1 side progressed to the last four of Europe’s elite club competition with a dramatic 5-4 aggregate win.

Scotland international and former Celtic transfer target John McGinn found the net for Villa, but despite his effort, Unai Emery’s side were eliminated in the quarter-finals.

An explanation in one word from a PSG supporter – ‘Friendship’

In a surprising spot, sharp-eyed fans spotted some PSG supporters wearing Hoops colours in Birmingham for the European encounter on Tuesday night. A fan was seen waving a Celtic scarf, which displayed the message: ‘Celtic Ultras.’ Asked why on social media a PSG supporter explained using just one word: FRIENDSHIP.

Another fan was captured entering the stadium sporting a balaclava with Celtic-themed designs. PSG ultras and ‘Bhoys Celtic’ have built up a friendship over the last few years which has seen supporters of the French side visit Celtic Park and vice versa.

The Parisians have been a breath of fresh air in the Champions League this season and alongside La Liga table toppers Barcelona are the favourites to win the competition. PSG boss Luis Enrique has previously hailed the Scottish champions as a ‘special club.’

Luis Enrique on Celtic

Speaking back in 2016 prior to Celtic’s Champions League outing with Barcelona, the Spaniard said: “It will be special because they are a great club with a spectacular atmosphere and we must enjoy it to the fullest and give the best possible account of ourselves.”

In order to reach the final in Munich though at the start of June, Enrique’s men will have to defeat Kieran Tierney’s Arsenal over two legs. The winners will then face Inter or Barcelona.
