Tomorrow, Wednesday, Kylian Mbappé's Real Madrid will take on Achraf Hakimi's PSG in the semi-finals of the Club World Cup. Ahead of this showdown and the reunion of old friends, Claude Makélélé—an iconic figure who played for both PSG and Real Madrid—spoke in an interview with Marca.

The former Parisian reflected on Mbappé's departure and the ambitions of both clubs. For Makélélé, despite PSG's impressive campaign this season, Kylian Mbappé's presence would have been decisive. "If Mbappé had stayed, PSG would also have won the Champions League." he stated.

That doesn't stop the former Parisian midfielder from expressing his admiration for the current state of the French club. "PSG had a great season and if you look at what they've achieved, they were the best in the Champions League and deserved the title," he added.

On the other hand, Makélélé acknowledges that Mbappé's choice to join Real Madrid is understandable: "You can't say no to Real Madrid, that's why he ended up going there."
