Paris Saint-Germain are determined to strengthen their midfield this summer. While Joao Neves’ (19) deal is entering final stages, the capital club would be willing to recruit a more experienced midfielder and have set their sights on Joshua Kimmich (29), but the signature of the German international is getting more and more complicated, reveals Le Parisien.

As we’re edging closer to the start of the season, Paris have been discrete on the transfer market so far, with Krasnodar’s goalkeeper Matvey Safonov (25) being the only addition to Luis Enrique’s squad so far. However, the French champions are still looking to strengthen their midfield and their offensive unit following Kylian Mbappe’s departure to Real Madrid. While PSG are edging closer to sealing Neves’ deal from Benfica, another target seems to go further away from the Parc des Princes.

According to Le Parisien, Kimmich does not intend to leave Bayern Munich this summer and would prefer to wait until his current deal expires next summer. However, the German outfit is pushing towards the exit the midfielder and would like to cash in rather than losing him for free. In this scenario, Kimmich would reportedly not place a departure to France on top of his list, reveals the French outlet. Hence, PSG might have to turn to other profiles. L’Equipe reported a few days ago that PSV’s midfielder Jerdy Schouten (27) was on the Capital club’s shortlist.
