Real Madrid have taken another step in the right direction in their pursuit of River Plate and Argentina teenage prodigy Franco Mastantuono.
After having seemingly decided not to pursue his signing, Los Blancos launched an aggressive campaign to land his signature ahead of new European champions PSG.
Having made significant progress over the past couple of days, Real Madrid are now closing in on finalising the youngster’s signing.
Indeed, according to Fabrizio Romano, Mastantuono has now decided to join Real Madrid from River Plate.
The 17-year-old sensation considers it a ‘dream’ move and all parties involved in the negotiations have been informed of his choice and there is an agreement over personal terms between the youngster and Los Blancos.

Real Madrid are now locked in negotiations with River Plate to finalise an agreement over his transfer fee.
The Argentine giants have been insisting on his $45 million (~€40 million) release clause but the Spanish capital heavyweights are trying to negotiate a lower fee.
PSG remain attentive to the developments but with the player giving priority to Real Madrid, it appears that the 2024/25 treble winners are set to miss out on his signing.
Reports from Argentina suggest that Mastantuono’s move to Real Madrid is as good as done, with the only matter set to be decided is whether he joins the club in the summer or at the end of the year after playing for River in the Club World Cup and the Copa Libertadores.
Either way, Real Madrid seem all set to land the 17-year-old South American gem’s signing imminently.
