Myles Lewis-Skelly has shared his reaction to his first Premier League start, after making the lineup for Arsenal against Everton over the weekend.

Arsenal teenager Myles Lewis-Skelly had a couple of firsts last week, making his first starts in both the Champions League and the Premier League.

The Champions League game certainly went well, with Arsenal defeating AS Monaco 3-0 to go third in the League Phase table. Lewis-Skelly had a significant role in the win as well, holding off a challenge and playing a nice pass in the build up to the opening goal.

The Premier League match was clearly more of a mixed experience though. Lewis-Skelly played 69 minutes, his longest appearance in a senior Arsenal game so far, but he couldn’t help the team to break the deadlock in a 0-0 draw.

All the same, making your first Premier League start for Arsenal is a big moment, and it’s worth highlighting that Lewis-Skelly was part of a back four that kept a clean sheet on the day.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Lewis-Skelly’s post-match reaction showed a mix of emotions.

“Proud to make my first Premier League start but a frustrating result,” Lewis-Skelly wrote on social media. “Feel disappointed but we will keep working hard together.”

It’s not too unlikely Lewis-Skelly will return to the starting lineup once again as Arsenal face Crystal Palace in the League Cup on Wednesday. The teenager has already made two appearances in the competition this season, and the Gunners are low on left-back options.

The most likely alternative would be a return to the team for Kieran Tierney, saving Lewis-Skelly for the league game against the same opponents on Saturday.

Given neither have completed a 90-minute match for the Arsenal first team this season, perhaps we’ll see both of them at some stage in midweek.
