Robin Pröpper is returning to FC Twente a year after his departure to Rangers. The 31-year-old defender has signed a four-year contract with De Tukkers.
Pröpper made the move to Rangers last summer after three seasons in Enschede. The defender had a cult season, and even scored against Celtic in the Old Firm, but left Glasgow after a year. “It was a great year, both personally and in the sport, with all sorts of new experiences,” Pröpper said on Twente’s official channels.
With the arrival of new management and a new owner, his chances of playing time seemed to dwindle. That opened the door for Twente, who didn’t have to think twice. “We’d been talking about a return for a while,” Jan Streuer reflects. “We’re convinced that Robin, with his qualities, will strengthen the team. We’re going to enjoy him for years to come.”
This also applies to Pröpper, who has already made 115 official appearances for Twente. He has also worn the jerseys of De Graafschap and Heracles Almelo. “If your old club, where you had a wonderful time, comes calling, the decision isn’t difficult. The process took some time, but I’m glad I’m back. I’m going for many wonderful years at De Grolsch Veste.”
