With each passing second, Barcelona appear to be edging closer to securing the services of Nico Williams.

Recent reports suggest the Catalans are already on the verge of agreeing personal terms with the Spanish international.

Once that is agreed, Barcelona only need to meet the player’s €62 million release clause, although that might be trickier than expected.

Nevertheless, one would think that Barcelona expediting their move to sign Nico may have greatly disappointed the club’s other attacking targets in Luis Diaz and Marcus Rashford. But that is far from the case.

Diaz and Rashford still hopeful about Barcelona move

According to Mundo Deportivo, both Diaz and Rashford remain interested in the idea of donning the Barcelona shirt, despite the recent developments surrounding Nico Williams.

Rashford, in particular, sees Barcelona’s push for Nico as part of the club’s broader plan to build a younger, more dynamic team.

The Manchester United forward reportedly believes his profile is different enough to complement Nico rather than compete with him directly.

Rashford believes his versatility could be useful for Barcelona as he can not only operate out wide but also serve as a backup for Robert Lewandowski.

As for Luis Diaz, the Colombian winger is still waiting in the wings. Though Liverpool are not entertaining negotiations and have proposed a renewal, Diaz continues to keep the door open for Barcelona.

He knows the financial side of his deal makes it difficult, but his ability to score more consistently than Nico remains a strong point. Not to mention, he is favoured by sporting director Deco.

Therefore, it will be interesting to see whether or not Barcelona can successfully rope in Nico. Should the pursuit fall, both Diaz and Rashford are more than ready to join the Catalans this summer.
