šŸ“ˆ Power Rankings: Premier League surprise package enter

10. Nottingham ForestĀ (šŸ†•)

Nottingham Forest overtake Chelsea to climb into our Power Rankings table. Nuno Espirito Santoā€™s side has been the surprise package of the Premier League season and sit third as we enter 2025.

Since losing to Manchester City in early December, Forest have reeled off five consecutive wins, taking the scalps of Manchester United, Aston Villa and Spurs in the process. Their last three league wins have come alongside clean sheets, cementing their place in the Champions League places. Itā€™s some story for a side who narrowly avoided relegation last season.

9. Barcelona (No change)

The winter break means its as you were for several sides in the table. Barcelona were last weekā€™s biggest fallers after defeat to title rivals Atletico Madrid extended their run to one win in seven La Liga games.

Hansi Flick will hope the time off can help Barcelona bounce back.

8. Real MadridĀ (No change)

Real Madrid remain eighth in the standings as the Spanish champions prepare to return from the winter break against Valencia tomorrow.

Carlo Ancelottiā€™s side have not convinced entirely this season, but sit just a point from leaders Atletico Madrid as we enter the new year. Still the team to beat in La Liga.

7. Atalanta (šŸ‘Ž Last week: 6)

Atalanta fall a place in the table after dropping points in the Serie A title race. Gian Piero Gasperiniā€™s side were held at Lazio, requiring an 88th-minute equaliser from MarcoĀ Brescianini to rescue a result. Though still top of the table, a point for Inter in their game in hand will see Atalanta lose their place at the summit.

6. Atletico Madrid (šŸ‘ Last week: 7)

Atletico Madrid move up a place despite not featuring over the past week.

Diego Simeoneā€™s side headed into the break buoyed by a last-gasp win over title rivals Barcelona, a result that sent Atleti to the top of the La Liga table. No side in Europeā€™s top five leagues has a better record over their last 10 games in all competitions, with Atletico boasting a perfect record of 10 wins.

5. Bayern Munich (No change)

The Bundesligaā€™s break means Bayern remain in fifth place.

Four points clear in the title race as we head into January, the German giants are in pole position to reclaim their crown that was lost last season. Only Barcelona (51) have scored more than their 47 goals among teams in Europeā€™s top five leagues.

4. Bayer Leverkusen (No change)

Bayer Leverkusen are hunting down Bayern Munich and have found their form over the winter.

Xabi Alonsoā€™s side have won eight games on the bounce, beating Bayern Munich and Inter Milan, and putting five past Heidenheim, Red Bull Salzburg and Freiburg during that run.

3. Arsenal (No change)

Arsenal stretched their unbeaten run to 12 games over the festive period, securing back-to-back wins over Ipswich and Brentford to climb to second in the Premier League.

Mikel Artetaā€™s side have ground to make up in the title race but have shown encouraging signs in recent weeks. It has set the Gunners up nicely for what could be a defining period in their season.

January brings tricky tests against Brighton, Spurs and Aston Villa in the Premier League, alongside crucial cup clashes with Newcastle and Manchester United.

2. Inter Milan (No change)

Inter Milan sit second in the Power Rankings table as we enter 2025.

Simeone Inzaghiā€™s side are on a run of five consecutive wins and clean sheets, having eased past Cagliari 3-0 in their final fixture of last year.

After a frustrating first half, goals from Alessandro Bastoni, Lautaro Martnez and Hakan Calhanoglu secured a comfortable win. The champions are now just a point off top spot in Serie A, with a game in hand.

1. LiverpoolĀ (No change)

Liverpool retain their iron grip on the Power Rankings table with the Reds recording successive wins over the festive period. Arne Slotā€™s side recovered from a goal down to beat Leicester on Boxing Day before thrashing a woeful West Ham at the London Stadium.

Their 5-0 win reinforced their title credentials with Liverpool appearing in unstoppable form right now.
