After their opening-day defeat in Como, Lazio roared back in style, pummelling Hellas Verona by four goals to nil at the Stadio Olimpico.
Taty Castellanos produced a spectacular show, providing two lovely assists before scoring the third himself, while Nicolo Rovella was simply outstanding in the middle of the park. So here are our player ratings for the superb duo, as well as every other Biancocelesti who took part in the action on Sunday night.
Ivan Provedel – 6
The Italian goalkeeper was able to enjoy a quiet evening, as he only had a few routine saves to make.
Adam Marusic – 6.5
The Montenegrin veteran was solid and reliable at the back, while occasionally darting the right flank to support Lazio’s attacks.
Mario Gila – 7
The Spaniard imposed his will on Amin Sarr while showing off his distribution skills from the back.
Oliver Provstgaard – 7
The Dane is arguably wise and composed beyond his 22 years. He never set a foot wrong throughout the match.
Nuno Tavares – 6
It wasn’t a vintage performance by any means, but a vast improvement on his last showing in Como. The Portuguese made some threatening runs, but his crosses didn’t find Castellanos.
Matteo Guendouzi – 7.5
A commanding outing from the Frenchman who broke the deadlock with an impressive finish and then made sure Lazio controlled the contest for the rest of the evening.
Nicolo Rovella – 9
A simply astonishing performance from the Italy international who is solidifying his claim for the best Regista in Serie A. He instigated the opener with a sublime long ball to Castellanos, before providing the assist for the Argentinian on the third goal with a brilliant outswinger. Almost every touch, every pass oozed class, and he even won back possession in style, at times with a flying backheel.
Fisayo Dele-Bashiru – 6.5
A decent showing from the Nigerian midfielder who won back possession on the second goal. Looked calm and composed.
Matteo Cancellieri – 6
Not a poor performance by any means from the Italian winger, but he just lacked the final touch.
Taty Castellanos – 8.5
A phenomenal display from the Argentinian striker who produced two assists, including one from a formidable rabona, before getting on the scoresheet himself after escaping his marker and heading the ball into the empty net.
Mattia Zaccagni – 7.5
The Lazio captain looked inspired against his former employers, as the Verona defenders had no clue how to stop him. Put his name on the scoresheet after a brilliant give-and-go with Castellanos, followed by a clinical finish.
Pedro – 6
The veteran didn’t produce one for the highlight reel, but he managed to advance the play with almost every touch.
Luca Pellegrini – 6
Had a hand in the build-up of the fourth Lazio goal.
Reda Belhayane – 6.5
The youngster should get the bulk of the credit for the last goal.
Boulaye Dia – 6.5
The Senegalese almost instantly got on the scoresheet
