According to a report from L’Équipe, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (36) has prioritised a return to Olympique de Marseille in his negotiations with European clubs, as he nears an exit from his two-year contract in Saudi Arabia.
The Gabonese international only left Marseille last summer when he joined Saudi Pro League side Al-Qadsiah. Despite an impressive goal record in the Gulf State, having scored 21 in 36 games, he has been pushed towards a departure, and a contract termination appears imminent.
Marseille have pounced on the opportunity and are reportedly in advanced discussions with their former player and have tabled a two-year contract offer. The striker’s interest is mutual, and in Europe, he has prioritised Marseille, but there is still competition.
Aubameyang is considering offers from the UAE, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia (with Al-Ettifaq in the running). However, L’Équipe notes everything is currently moving in the right direction for Marseille.
