Olympique de Marseille will not compete in European football next season. Sunday’s victory over Le Havre AC (2-1) was not enough for OM to overtake either RC Lens or Olympique Lyonnais. Consequently, doubts have been raised over Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s (34) future at the club, as reported by La Provence.

The local publication stated that “another league” have shown an interest in him, just as they did last summer. Whilst the local publication does not reveal the identity of the interested party(s), it was reported that Saudi Arabia showed interest when Aubameyang was at Chelsea.

It would be a blow for Marseille to lose Aubameyang given his importance to the side. In his debut season at the Vélodrome, he has scored 30 goals and registered 11 assists in 50 appearances in all competitions. It is a contribution that OM, without the allure of European football, would be hard-pressed to replace.

However, speaking on Sunday, Aubameyang reassured Marseille’s fans. “Will we see you pass the 30-goal mark for OM next season?” he was asked by a journalist on Prime Video Sport. “I’ll need to work, work very hard. If it will be with me? Yes, I am here,” said the former Chelsea, Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona forward.
