Manchester United have issued a very positive fitness update on Amad ahead of the club’s Europa League quarter-final meeting with Olympique Lyonnais on Thursday.

Amad has been one of the few bright spots for United during what has proven to be an immensely challenging season.

United currently sit in 13th place in the Premier League with a mere 38 points gained after 31 matches played.

Amad was just establishing himself as a key part of Ruben Amorim’s plans at Old Trafford before he sustained a serious ankle injury in February.

He picked up the issue in training

It was initially thought that Amad would be sidelined for the remainder of the campaign but Amorim recently expressed hope that the forward could make a timely return to action for United’s final games.

This belief was fuelled further two weeks ago, when Amad posted an image on social media accompanied by a timer and a smiley face emoji, teasing a quicker return to full fitness.

United have now released images of Amad, showing him putting in the work to fully recover and make himself available to Amorim for selection.

In the photos, Amad is seen putting in the effort at Carrington, working hard in the gym as part of his rehabilitation.

This update from United strongly suggests that the 22-year-old isn’t far from making his return, a development that will be a welcome boost not only for Amorim but also for the supporters.

If United manage to get past Lyon and book their spot in the semis of the Europa League and perhaps reach the final, the club could certainly do with Amad’s influence in Bilbao.

In 22 Premier League appearances this term, Amad has notched six goals and seven assists. He has managed nine goals and eight assists in 35 games across all competitions.
