Liverpool have clinched one of the most dramatic transfers in recent memory, with The Times reporting that Alexander Isak will join us from Newcastle United in a British-record deal worth £125 million.
According to Martin Hardy and Paul Joyce, the 25-year-old forward is travelling to Merseyside for a medical on Monday before signing a six-year contract at Anfield.

The Swedish international had been at the centre of the saga of the summer, refusing to return to training under Eddie Howe after Liverpool’s initial £110m bid was rejected at the start of August.
Newcastle’s Saudi-backed owners attempted to persuade him to stay by offering a new contract that would have made him their highest-paid player.
But the former Real Sociedad striker was determined to force through a move to Anfield, ending negotiations and even refusing to travel on their pre-season tour.
Liverpool’s new offer, slightly below Newcastle’s £130m asking price, nevertheless surpasses Chelsea’s £115m deal for Moises Caicedo in 2023 and our own £116m move for Florian Wirtz earlier this summer.

Our head coach Arne Slot now has another elite option in attack, with Isak expected to compete with Hugo Ekitike, who joined from Eintracht Frankfurt, for the No.9 role.
The fee underlines the ambition of the Premier League champions, who have already strengthened with Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez, Ekitike and Wirtz in this window.
Isak released a statement insisting promises had been broken at Newcastle, saying his relationship with the club was beyond repair.
For the Magpies, the sale eases Profitability and Sustainability Rule concerns, while reports suggest they will now turn to either Brentford’s Yoane Wissa or Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen.
Ever since their signing of Nick Woltemade, it has felt like our hunt for the Swede was on and talk of Isak’s move to Merseyside being confirmed have grown ever since.
Liverpool have stayed patient and are now reaping the rewards as we prepare to welcome one of Europe’s most feared forwards to Anfield.
