MIAMI – The first month of the year is in the books, and the storylines continue to grow across Concacaf W leagues.
CF Pachuca and Club América met in a battle of the top teams in Mexico. In the United States, transfer season continues to take the headlines as teams continue their preseasons.
Pachuca Femenil the new leader in Mexican Clausura
The Clausura 2025 season in Liga MX Femenil delivered a new leader thanks to the results of the sixth matchweek.
In a battle of unbeaten teams, CF Pachuca won 2-1 against Club América to become the new first-place side in Mexico. Chinwendu Ihezuo struck for the Tuzas in the 32’, but Angelique Saldivar would tie for Las Águilas in the 52’. Nina Nicosia dribbled into the box to deliver the match-winning strike in the 57’.
FC Juárez continued its unbeaten start to rise to third place after a 4-1 victor against Club León.
Pumas UNAM won 3-0 against Toluca at Necaxa to improve to fourth place. Stephanie Ribeiro earned a brace, reaching eight goals in the campaign and second overall. Pachuca’s Charlyn Corral leads the top scorer race with nine goals.
CF Monterrey dropped to fifth place after a 1-1 draw with Club Tijuana. Atlético San Luis (6th), CD Guadalajara (7th), and Queretaro (8th) round out the teams that occupy the top eight in the Liguilla race.
NWSL sees another high-priced departure
Following a “World-Record Transfer” of U.S. women’s national team defender Naomi Girma to England’s Chelsea FC from San Diego Wave FC, another NWSL club saw a high-priced departure.
The Houston Dash completed the transfer of Brazilian defender Tarciane to Olympique Lyonnais Féminin for an undisclosed transfer fee that was described as a team record and among the highest in NWSL history.
The NWSL also announced Denver as its latest expansion team. The league’s newest club will begin play for the 2026 season. Current NWSL clubs are working towards the league’s kickoff on March 14.
USL Super League welcomes Lexi Missimo
The USL Super League is scheduled to resume its 2024/25 season on February 8 when the Tampa Bay Sun FC hosts Fort Lauderdale United FC.
Prior to the league’s restart, Dallas Trinity FC announced a major signing in former Texas Longhorns midfielder Lexi Missimo. Signing through the 2026/27 season, Missimo comes off a standout college career that includes being named a back-to-back MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalist. A Southlake, Texas native, Missimo will begin her professional career close to home as the league continues its inaugural campaign.
