Brentford Women head coach Karleigh Osborne says the belief in his group is “really high” ahead of Sunday's FA Cup second round home tie against London Seaward.

The Bees reached this stage of the competition for the first time ever after defeating Ascot United earlier this month, setting up an historic clash at Bedfont Sports Club this weekend.

Speaking to the media alongside striker Chloe Logie, Osborne said the group can’t help but dream of the third round.

“Naturally, you do [dream], that’s the magic of the FA Cup. We’re aware that we’re going to face a tough challenge, but we feel we’ll be ready for it,” said Osborne.

“I think the belief of the group at the moment is really high. Also, the players are starting to understand how good they are and the levels that they’re at.

“The fans have been magnificent for us this season and we hope they come out in their hundreds to support us again.

“The home advantage is brilliant for us. It’s our ground and it’s our fortress; we can use that to our benefit.”

While London Seaward have endured a tough league season to date, the tier four side have enjoyed strong FA Cup form, beating Stanway Pegasus 5-0 and Hackney 3-1.

Brentford won 5-3 against Seaward in pre-season but Osborne is aware of the threats that they possess.

“They’re a team that we’ve come across before," he continued. "They’ve had some really good players come through there and they’ll be a team that will no doubt want to come and win the game and try their best to challenge us,” explained Osborne.

“It’ll be a tough game. I’m looking forward to it, but ultimately we’ll be focused on trying to win.”

Logie goes into Sunday’s match in fine FA Cup form, the striker having scored nine goals across three qualifying round games and the first round proper against Ascot United.

Her partner up front, Ashley Cheatley, has also scored nine goals in the FA Cup so far, with the pair each tallying 29 goals across all competitions this season.

Logie said the relationship they have established on and off the pitch has helped their form this campaign.

“I’m really enjoying playing with her," said Logie. "We get on so well on and off the pitch, so that definitely helps.

“We both just have that hunger to score goals and we want each other to score goals, so that’s even more dangerous.

“I think her mentality definitely rubs off onto the whole team, she’s got this winners’ mentality and everyone’s learning that from her.

“Playing with her, I think I’m definitely getting that too, I’m playing with a lot of confidence.”

Looking to Sunday’s contest, Logie and Osborne said the group had history in mind.

“[I’m] really excited," Logie added. "It’s a massive game for us and these are the sort of games you want to play in. We just want to make more history."

Osborne continued: “These girls are creating history week in, week out, year on year and I think that’s something to be extremely proud of.

“For me, the dream is firmly alive. There’s a lot of work that we’ve got to do and it starts with this weekend, which is where all our focus is.

“At the moment, we’re writing history and we want to continue to do that.”
