It may be tempting to view Liverpool as the strongest team in England following their significant summer spending, but a closer inspection reveals that financial outlay alone does not guarantee success. While investing heavily in players is often associated with ambition, trophies are not won solely by the size of a club’s budget. One only needs to consider Real Madrid’s 2024/2025 campaign as an example of a high-cost squad falling short of expectations.
Liverpool have indeed made headlines with their aggressive recruitment, yet their squad remains a work in progress. In contrast, Arsenal have taken a more strategic approach, addressing key deficiencies within their team with precision and purpose.
Manchester City have also made adjustments to their squad, but unlike City and other rivals, Arsenal’s core has not been dismantled. They may have lost Thomas Partey, but the arrivals of Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard more than compensate for that departure. Both midfielders bring balance, tactical intelligence and versatility to the centre of the pitch.
The most significant addition, however, is the signing of Viktor Gyökeres. For multiple seasons, Arsenal have lacked a consistent and recognisable striker, a gap that has often undermined their title challenges. The acquisition of Gyökeres marks a turning point, as they finally possess a forward capable of leading the line with authority and purpose.

As the new season approaches, Arsenal’s squad appears settled and cohesive. With major areas of weakness now addressed, there may be little need for further reinforcements. This continuity and stability provide Mikel Arteta’s side with a clear advantage.
Liverpool still have unresolved issues within their squad, while Manchester City’s involvement in the Club World Cup means they will have had a shorter pre-season, potentially affecting their early form. These factors contribute to what could be a crucial head start for the Gunners.
Arsenal’s preparation and strategic acquisitions have positioned them as the most complete and well-prepared side in the Premier League. While others are still refining their squads, Arsenal stand ready to mount a serious title challenge. Given the current landscape, it is fair to argue that they now possess the strongest team in the league.
