Germany and Denmark both began their European Under-21 Championship campaigns with three points on Thursday.
Five Eintracht players made winning starts to their European Under-21 Championship campaigns in Slovakia on Thursday evening. After Jean-Mattéo Bahoya and France kicked off their tournament with a goalless draw against Portugal on Wednesday, a Germany side featuring Ansgar Knauff, Nnamdi Collins, Nathaniel Brown and Elias Baum cruised to a 3-0 win over Slovenia, while Oscar Højlund’s Denmark beat Ukraine 3-2.
Left-back Brown played the full 90 minutes of Germany’s Group B opener at the Štadión pod Zoborom in Nitra, while Collins was taken off in the 74th minute after being named in the starting XI. Knauff was brought off the bench in the 64th minute, with Baum an unused substitute.
Højlund was also left on the bench as Denmark recovered from 2-1 down to defeat Ukraine at the Štadión Tatran Prešov.
