‘One of the best in the world’ – Barcelona icon hails current Blaugrana star | OneFootball

Former Barcelona star Romário has on Monday moved to reveal his appreciation for a current member of the Blaugrana’s attacking ranks.

The player in question? Raphinha.

Wide-man Raphinha is for his part of course in the midst of what has been nothing short of a spectacular start to the new campaign.

Looking like a player reborn under the watch of Hansi Flick, the former Leeds United man has dazzled on his way to 20 direct goal contributions in just 17 appearances.

Just this past summer viewed as expendable, Raphinha is now one of the first names on the team sheet in Catalunya’s capital, considered a leader on and off the pitch alike.

And, as alluded to above, such consistent excellence has this week earned the 27-year-old some altogether deserved praise.

Speaking during an exchange with Diario Sport, one-time Barcelona frontman Romário was drawn on the recent form of his fellow countryman.

And the Brazilian icon could not hide his appreciation for Raphinha’s talents, responding:

“Raphinha is one of the best players in the world. He’s doing very well with Barça’s jersey and also with Brazil’s jersey. Raphinha is a pride for all Brazilians; he will give us very special things in football.”
