La Liga giants Atlético Madrid trained without a solitary member of the club’s backline on Wednesday morning.
Atlético’s stars returned to base at the club’s training ground today, after a three-day break on the back of the weekend’s Madrid Derby.
This comes with a view to an upcoming meeting with Celta Vigo in Spain’s capital on Saturday.
And there was positive news in the Rojiblancos camp, with Rodrigo De Paul, after sparking injury concerns against Real Madrid, having managed to train as normal alongside his teammates.
Absent from group activities, on the other hand, was veteran defender César Azpilicueta.
As per a report from Mundo Deportivo:
‘The Navarrese defender trained on the sidelines doing alternative work. In principle, it is expected that he will not have any problems to be in action next Saturday against Celta de Vigo.’
Elsewhere on the Atléti front on Wednesday, the capital outfit have discovered the identity of their upcoming opponents in the Copa del Rey.
With a spot in the competition’s final on the line, Simeone and co. will need to navigate their way beyond Hansi Flick’s in-form Barcelona.
