Manchester United are preparing their first formal offer for Viktor Gyokeres in hopes of steering the prolific goalscorer away from an Arsenal move.
With the Gunners’ Champions League spot safe and secure for next season, they have already entered talks boasting the upper hand over rivals United, given Gyokeres is said to be adamant about rubbing shoulders with Europe’s elite in 2025/2026.
However, the Red Devils were granted a boost when Arsenal prioritised their pursuit of Benjamin Sesko over the Sporting Lisbon talisman, allowing United a free run to kickstart negotiations and try and sell their project.

Now, the two Premier League clubs are indeed vying for Gyokeres’ signature.
RB Leipzig standing firm in their demands for Sesko has prompted the Arsenal board to turn their attention to Gyokeres, who poses as a more experienced, proven and slightly cheaper option. He was previously hailed as the ‘hottest striker in Europe’ by ESPN journalist Mark Ogden.
United, on the other hand, were made to go back to the drawing board at the beginning of the window when first-choice centre-forward target Liam Delap opted to sign for Chelsea. The 22-year-old, available for just £30 million, was considered the ideal candidate to lead Ruben Amorim’s line next term.
Reports in Portugal (via Record), where Gyokeres, 27, has spent the last two years plying his trade, now suggest that an ‘official proposal’ is imminent from United’s end after learning of a meeting between the Swede’s agent and Arsenal directors on Wednesday.
INEOS chiefs likely wouldn’t bother submitting a bid unless they believed there was even a small chance it could be accepted. That being said, any of the sides will have to wait until Monday, June 16, for the window to reopen, which will allow them to sanction incomings and outgoings as they please.
