Portland Timbers have confirmed the signing of David Pereira Da Costa (24). The Portuguese playmaker joins from Ligue 1 side RC Lens.

There has been a steady flow of departures from Lens over the past six weeks. Brice Samba was the first to depart at the start of January, joining Stade Rennais. Then their two starting centre-backs, Abdukodir Khusanov and Kevin Danso, both secured Premier League moves. The former joined Manchester City with the latter arriving at Tottenham Hotspur.

Since the closure of the transfer window in France on 3rd February, there have been two further departures. Przemyslaw Frankowski first secured a move to Turkey having pushed for a move away from Lens and now Da Costa has joined MLS side Portland Timbers.

Da Costa’s deal with Portland Timbers will run until the end of the 2028 season, while there is a clause to extend for a further year, the MLS side announced on Monday.
