AC Milan will take on Liverpool on Tuesday evening in their Champions League opener, hoping to hear the San Siro roar again. As confirmed by UEFA earlier today, the Norwegian Espen Eskås will officiate the big clash.

Milan and Liverpool’s battles in the Champions League go way back and carry a lot of pedigree, making Tuesday’s clash a special one. The two faced each other in the 2021-22 UCL group stage and the Reds prevailed in both games, with the Rossoneri looking for revenge now.

As confirmed by UEFA on their official website, the Norwegian referee Espen Eskås will officiate the game on Tuesday. Despite being just 37 years old, he has been in charge of many games in UEFA competitions and a decent chunk in the Champions League as well.

The rest of the officiating team consists of fellow Norwegians, except for the VAR room which will be controlled by two German referees. One can only hope that Eskås will be able to handle the pressure as it is bound to be a special atmosphere at San Siro.

On the other hand, Milan have had issues selling all of the tickets for the game and it might not be the usual electric feeling in the stadium on the night.
