An official Newcastle United injury update on Friday morning.
Eddie Howe talking to journalists.
The NUFC Head Coach speaking ahead of this match at St James’ Park.
Eddie Howe hoping to see his team repeat the attacking threat they showed against Liverpool in that most recent SJP match.
Official Newcastle United injury update – Availability for the Leicester match (and beyond):
Eddie Howe confirms the new Callum Wilson hamstring injury, as reported in the media. The striker set to miss the next eight weeks at least it appears.
Nick Pope – Has picked up a knee injury and Eddie Howe says he will see a specialist today, before then a decision is made for this Leicester match.
Joe Willock – The Head Coach says the midfielder hasn’t trained yet but is making “good progress” after missing the Brentford match with a minor hamstring issue.
So it sounds like Emil Krafth, Jamaal Lascelles, Callum Wilson and Sven Botman are the four who will be missing for sure tomorrow. Whilst in the balance for Pope and Willock.
“Really feel for Callum.
“We see the work, the dedication and professionalism that he’s shown.
“You have to understand how difficult this season has been for him.
“He’s had a couple of setbacks when he’s looked so close to training regularly. He’s not cut corners, he’s gone through a vigorous process to keep himself fit.
“When you see him not get the end result this time, I feel really sad for him but I back him to come back again and have the mental resilience he will need to fight again because we know his qualities.”
