Official: Lesley Ugochukwu joins Burnley FC | OneFootball

The 21-year-old midfielder signs a five-year deal with the Clarets after a successful season at Southampton.

Lesley Ugochukwu has officially joined Burnley FC on Wednesday, August 6, 2025. The Franco-Nigerian midfielder commits to five seasons with the Clarets for a fee close to €20 million, bonuses included. Chelsea have agreed to a permanent transfer after two years with the London club.

The talented midfielder of Nigerian descent arrives at Turf Moor after a successful Premier League campaign last season. Loaned to Southampton for the 2024-2025 campaign, the French youth international impressed with his consistent performances in a Saints shirt. His spell in the south of England helped him gain valuable top-flight experience and showcase his technical abilities.

"It's a great feeling to sign for Burnley. As soon as I heard about the club's interest in me, I wanted to learn more about the project. I spoke to the manager and to Maxime (Estève), both of whom are passionate about the club and its direction. I feel like this is the perfect move for me at this stage of my career, given the ambition the club is showing. I can't wait to get started. I'm really looking forward to wearing the Burnley shirt in the Premier League," Ugochukwu said at the signing.
