Racing Club de Lens have signed Olympique de Marseille goalkeeper Pau López (30) on loan, both clubs have announced. The Spaniard was previously loaned out by Les Phocéens to La Liga side Girona FC. López was Paulo Gazzaniga’s (33) understudy with the Catalunya outfit. The Spaniard only played one game this season with Girona, in the Copa Del Rey second round. RC Lens were looking towards the former AS Roma goalkeeper in their search for a successor to Brice Samba (30).
Lens’ loan move for López includes an option to make the move permanent. With Samba’s replacement now secured, the France international goalkeeper is now expected to complete a €14m move to Stade Rennais. RMC Sport reports that the former Nottingham Forest goalie is undergoing a medical with Rennes. López is in line to make his Lens debut this Sunday with Les Sang et Or set to face Le Havre.
