Leicester City have signed Rennes midfielder Jordan James (21) on loan, both clubs have announced. The Wales international’s move to the Foxes reportedly includes a €5m option to buy. James has joined Les Rouge et Noir last year from formative club Birmingham City. James is the latest player that Rennes signed one year ago to be shown the exit door as Sporting Director Loïc Désiré trimmed down the bloated squad he inherited from his predecessor, Frederic Massara.
Rennes head coach Habib Beye didn’t necessarily see James as vital to his plans, given Les Rouge et Noir have notably signed two experienced Ligue 1 midfielders this summer in Valentin Rongier and Mahdi Camara. James was a target earlier in the window for Parma and promoted Championship side Wrexham, but he’ll now pursue his career back in England, at the King Power Stadium.
