While it had become quite clear that Barcelona’s efforts to acquire new licenses for Dani Olmo and Pau Victor and register them are unlikely to be approved, La Liga and the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) have officially confirmed the same via a statement.
Issuing a joint statement on the subject, La Liga and RFEF confirmed that Barça’s salary limit had been increased following the submission of the relevant documentation concerning the VIP seats agreement.
But it also confirmed that the registrations of Olmo and Victor cannot be granted as it is against regulations for players to be issued a new license with the same club within the same season after the prior license had been cancelled.
The full statement released by the RFEF and La Liga is as follows:
“The Monitoring Committee of the RFEF-La Liga Coordination Agreement has met to address the request for prior approval and processing of the federative licences of the players Mr Daniel Olmo Carvajal and Mr Pau Víctor Delgado, submitted by FC Barcelona.

“Following FCB’s compliance with LaLiga’s economic control requirements on 3 January 2025, and once the club has completed the relevant documentation, La Liga’s Budget Validation Body has decided to extend FC Barcelona’s Sporting Squad Cost Limit from the aforementioned date.”
“In this regard, having been requested the licences for the aforementioned players by FC Barcelona and after analysis of the applicable federative regulations, the Monitoring Committee agrees not to grant the preliminary license nor the definitive license requested by FC Barcelona for the players Mr. Daniel Olmo Carvajal and Mr. Pau Víctor Delgado in accordance with the literal interpretation of articles 130.2 and 141.5 of the General Regulations of the RFEF which prevent a player whose license is cancelled from being able, during the course of the same season, to obtain a license in the same team of the club to which he was already linked.”
Having anticipated this situation, FC Barcelona are already preparing their next steps and are ready to take the matter to the ordinary courts or the Higher Council for Sports (CSD) in order to obtain precautionary measures which would allow Olmo and Victor to play again.
