Aleksandar Kolarov will be the Inter assistant manager to former teammate Cristian Chivu, confirmed the Serbian Federation, after he left the Serbia Under-21 job.
There had already been reports that Kolarov was being lined up to take the role at San Siro and this was effectively confirmed this evening.

In the statement announcing that Kolarov would no longer be the head coach of the Under-21 national team, the Serbian authorities noted he had “accepted the offer to join the coaching staff of the Champions League finalists Inter as assistant manager.”

This had been the 39-year-old’s first coaching role, taken in November 2024 and overseeing only five matches.
Before that, he had been a director of sport very briefly at Pisa, only hanging up his boots in 2022.
The ex-defender spent just two years at Inter from 2020 to 2022, having previously played for Roma, Manchester City, Lazio, OFK Belgrade and Cukaricki.
Inter had initially tried to hire another former player, Walter Samuel, but he remains committed to his role as assistant manager of Lionel Scaloni at Argentina.
The Nerazzurri flew out today to Los Angeles to begin preparations for the Club World Cup, so Kolarov will join them there.
