“The Club would like to take this opportunity to thank him for his commitment during a difficult start to this 2024/25 season, and for his work over the last two years in which he also coached the then-U19s team. The Club’s thanks also extend to his availability to take on the role of Men’s First Team coach at the end of the 2023/24 season.

“Montero will always find a home at Juventus, where he has been a champion both on and off the pitch as a player and a coach.”

The former Uruguay international had taken charge of the Juventus NextGen squad, the Old Lady’s second team, last summer and remained in charge for just 15 games.

He has previously led Juventus’ U19 squad from 2022 until 2024 and replaced first-team coach Massimiliano Allegri for the last two games of the 2023-24 campaign before Thiago Motta’s appointment over the summer.

A former Juventus defender, Montero spent nine seasons in Turin as a footballer, scoring six goals in 278 appearances and winning several trophies, including four Serie A titles, three Italian Supercups, one UEFA Cup and one Intercontinental Cup.

Juventus NextGen sit at rock bottom of the Serie C Group C table with just seven points in 14 games. The Bianconeri have won just one game, scored 12 goals and conceded 26.

Montero will be replaced by Massimo Brambilla, who already led the NextGen squad from 2022 to 2024.
