Official: Christian Gomis leaves Winterthur for Schalke 04 | OneFootball

The Senegalese striker inherits the legendary number 7 of the Königsblauen.

Christian Gomis has officially joined Schalke 04 this Monday, September 1, 2025. The Senegalese striker leaves FC Winterthur for good to sign with the German second division club. He has put pen to paper on a four-year contract through June 30, 2029 and will wear the legendary number 7 of the Königsblauen.

Schalke 04 is spending €1.5 million to secure the services of Christian Gomis, with additional bonuses based on performance. This fee represents the club's biggest investment of the summer transfer window.

“Christian Gomis’ intense style of play and tireless work ethic perfectly match the qualities we look for in a striker. He’s improved year after year and still has significant room for growth. We’re excited to start working with him,” said Youri Mulder, Schalke’s Director of Professional Football.

Christian Gomis built his career in Switzerland after leaving Spain as a youngster. He climbed every rung of Swiss football, playing for Chaux-de-Fonds, BEJUNE, FC Biel-Bienne, and Vevey United before joining Stade Nyonnais. With Nyonnais, he helped secure promotion to the Swiss second division in the summer of 2023, scoring 22 goals in 65 appearances. This impressive run earned him a move to the Super League last summer with Winterthur, where he quickly established himself as a regular starter.

During his stint at FC Winterthur, Christian Gomis confirmed his finishing prowess by netting 9 goals in 34 appearances in his debut Super League season. His consistency in front of goal at the top level of Swiss football convinced Schalke’s scouts to bet on him.
