FC Barcelona are set to kick off their game against RCD Mallorca shortly. This is the official kickoff for the new season for them as well, so this is a massive fixture. However, it is undoubtedly a big game for both teams.
For Barça, however, this needs to be a statement game after the reinforcements they have brought in. Moreover, considering the difficulty they went through to register them as well, it would make sense as to why Hansi Flick would field a strong starting eleven.
Here is the official starting eleven for Barcelona in this game. In goal, unsurprisingly, Joan Garcia starts for the Catalan giants. After having finally been registered in time for the game, there was simply no way that the Spanish goalkeeper would not be starting this game.
The two centre-backs in front of him are Pau Cubarsi and Ronald Araujo. For now, it seems that Araujo could be the replacement for Inigo Martinez that Hansi Flick will choose to trust for now.
On the flanks, Alejandro Balde and Eric Garcia take charge. They will need to use up a lot of energy, but it should greatly help the team both offensively and defensively.
In the midfield, Frenkie de Jong and Pedri start together in the double pivot role. They will look to make sure that possession continues to be circulated effectively and that they can ensure that the team remains in control.
Ahead of them, Lamine Yamal and Raphinha start as the team’s two wingers. Between them, it appears that Fermin will be the one operating as the central attacking midfielder right behind the striker.
Lastly, Ferran Torres starts as the team’s primary centre-forward. The Spaniard will need to be sharp and alert, as this could be the kind of game where every missed chance could prove to be crucial.
