Jarell Quansah Draws Europe-Wide Interest as Liverpool Weigh Summer Options

Rising Demand for an Underused Talent

As the transfer window looms, Jarell Quansah has emerged as a name stirring up interest far beyond Merseyside. TEAMtalk have revealed that Nottingham Forest have joined Newcastle United in the race for the Liverpool defender, with recruitment teams from both clubs reportedly “keeping a close eye on Quansah.” Seen as a viable reinforcement for their backlines, the young centre-half has now become a target not just domestically, but across Europe.

Valued at around €35million (£29.7m / $39.4m), Quansah could be allowed to leave if Liverpool land a replacement this summer. Despite his limited Premier League minutes—just 398 across the season—clubs see promise. As TEAMtalk report: “The Premier League champions consider him a promising talent, but with growing interest, a move could occur if the right offer arrives.”

Premier League Rivals Seek Bargain

Newcastle and Forest are both believed to be pushing for a reduced fee, citing Quansah’s lack of regular football. “The uncapped Englishman has featured for 398 minutes in the Premier League this term, which works out at less than four and a half full games.” There’s clear strategy at play here: land a talented but underutilised defender before his valuation spikes.

Interest Spreads Across the Continent

But the interest isn’t confined to English shores. Inter Milan remain “admirers” of the 22-year-old, having been linked in September. TEAMtalk confirm the Serie A side “will sign a young defender in the summer and have asked for information about Quansah.” Simone Inzaghi’s team are also monitoring Genoa’s Koni De Winter.

With “several German clubs” also in the frame, the competition intensifies. Whether Quansah moves could hinge on Arne Slot’s success in landing Bournemouth’s Dean Huijsen. “Arne Slot’s side have sent Bournemouth star Dean Huijsen a contract offer and are battling Chelsea and Real Madrid for him.”

Liverpool’s Transfer Domino Effect

Ultimately, Quansah’s fate could be the first domino to fall in Liverpool’s summer reshuffle. If Slot lands a new centre-back, the path may be clear for Quansah’s exit. “Sources state that there will be more room for negotiations over Quansah if Liverpool sign another centre-half.”

Our View – Anfield Index Analysis

There’s a genuine sense of intrigue building around Jarell Quansah. From a Liverpool perspective, it’s both flattering and frustrating. Flattering, because a host of clubs—Inter Milan, Forest, Newcastle, and several Bundesliga outfits—are circling. But frustrating, because it feels like we haven’t fully explored what we have.

Quansah may only have 398 Premier League minutes under his belt, but there’s maturity in his game that suggests untapped potential. If he leaves now, we could end up watching him flourish elsewhere—just like we did with Conor Coady or even more painfully, Raheem Sterling at City.

That said, if Arne Slot sees Dean Huijsen as a more rounded fit for his system, then a sale makes business sense. A £29.7m fee for a fringe player? Not bad. But supporters won’t accept this without clarity. We need to know there’s a concrete plan—and not just another talent sold before hitting their stride.

Letting Quansah go may be smart financially, but it has to be part of a bigger picture. One that ends with a stronger, more defensively resilient Liverpool. Otherwise, we’ll be back here next year—scrambling to fix another gap.
