Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that an up-and-coming member of the club’s midfield ranks suffered an injury on Thursday.

Real, of course, kicked their preparations for the new season back into gear in the early hours of this morning.

After making the trip to the USA last weekend for the club’s annual pre-season tour, Los Blancos went on to lock horns with Italian giants AC Milan.

The matchup saw Carlo Ancelotti make use of the opportunity to test out some of Real’s latest crop of breakthrough talents, en route to an eventual 1-0 defeat in Chicago.

One such starlet to have been afforded an appearance off the bench, meanwhile, was midfielder César Palacios.

Palacios is a highly-regarded 19-year-old Spanish youth international, who is currently plying his trade with Real Madrid Castilla.

Shortly after being introduced to the fray against Milan, however, the youngster was forced to limp back off.

And, drawn on the situation post-match, boss Ancelotti went on to admit that Palacios has picked up a potentially serious knee injury:

“Palacios has a knee problem and it is not looking good.”
